It is very common to hear from friends and family members who are also parents say "I just don't know what to do." Well I have started this blog in hopes of aiding parents and answering questions about behavior.
If you have a question unrelated to what I am posting about go ahead and comment anyway with your question. That way I will be sure to see new questions.
I am slowly starting this blog so I hope to be adding to it almost daily eventually but the more questions that are asked the more I will be posting, so ask away...

in glad you're doing this blog and creating this forum. My Beckett had what I think is a for of asbergers. He has such touch issues. Seperation and just regular anxiety. His mood swings lead me to think of him as bipolarThe drs I've talked to say kids can't be biolat but his switches are so severe it's scary. He has to have me but he's not happy with mr touching him or being near me. I know others and the child specialist we had cine to the house will say they're controling you. But even when he gets what he wants he's so irrate he doesn't want it.
ReplyDeleteThis is a lot of info for a little question. What parts of his behavior do I look at that are importand enough to not just be two year old activities and which are real issues. Where can I really trust about asberger and autism?
Thank you. EmilieAn
Hmmm...
ReplyDeleteWhere do I start in answering your question:
I may need some additional information for you. Is Beckett on track developmentally? Hows his speech? Does he seem to have a really good memory?
Many people have difficulty differentiating between autism, aspergers, and sensory intergration (SI) issues. To compond things further, there is also similiar diagnosis' to autism (like PDD NOS-pervasive development disorder not otherwise specified) some people say it is a mild form of autism. Autism and autistic like disorders fall into a large spectrum where someone with a diagnosis may be very mild to extremely severe.
It's confusing I know, but from what you are describing it sounds like Beckett has SI, which is good news! Its very treatable and will most likely disapear in time (more quickly with treatment).
While you are getting back with some answers to my questions I will be posting some signs and symptoms of autism and aspergers disorder, as well as some info on SI. In addition, I some contact info for you, theres a parent on the island that can walk you through the process and guide you in getting some help, so stay posted!
EmilieAn,
ReplyDeleteDo you have a history of autism or bipolar in your family? What your doctors are saying about a diagnosis for bipolar is that children are not typically diagnosed so young. (I worked with a 4 year old that was given that diagnosis) That does not mean Beckett does not have it or is not showing signs of being bipolar. Does he throw extreme tantrums or does he go from mad to happy or vice versa very quickly as if a light switch was just switched? What usually triggers these behaviors? I will post more about what to do when problems arise soon...
